THE PANTHEIST

Filmmaker Roger Thorp and painter Jesse Leroy Smith collaborated on projects exploring how shifting creeds resolve spiritual belief.  The Pantheist, is a series of 7 animated paintings made on copper, filmed then edited, multiple superimpositions, to create an abstracted collision of cultures. From abstract colour human heads emerge, defined through cultural and religious iconography only to dissolve amidst relentless pigment and light.
